raffleWP 1.5: Exact Bundle Prices for Competition Entries

Set exact entry-bundle totals with raffleWP 1.5, preview prices between tiers and keep your competition’s basket, checkout and cost planner using the same pricing.

raffleWP Editorial

raffleWP 1.5 introduces fixed bundle totals for competition entries. You can advertise an exact offer, such as five entries for £13.99, and set what larger bundles cost without working backwards from a percentage discount.

The update also gives operators a price preview around each tier, highlights offers worth checking and connects the calculation to the basket, checkout and competition cost planner. Existing competitions using percentage discounts keep their current pricing when you upgrade.

Set the bundle total you actually want to advertise

Percentage discounts suit some competitions. For others, a simple total is easier to communicate on a prize page or promotional image. Fixed mode lets you enter the quantity and the total in your store currency. Each configured quantity uses that exact offer before any applicable WooCommerce tax display adjustments and eligible coupons.

For example, you might choose a single-entry price of £2.99, five entries for £13.99 and ten for £26.49. These are illustrative prices, not a recommended pricing strategy. Choose offers that fit your own prize costs, fees and entry limits.

What happens when someone chooses six entries?

Between configured quantities, raffleWP uses the rate from the preceding tier. It keeps the full rate for the calculation and rounds the final line total once. In the example above:

  • Four entries cost £11.96 because the first bundle starts at five.
  • Five entries use the configured £13.99 total.
  • Six entries cost £16.79: £13.99 × 6 ÷ 5, rounded once.
  • Ten entries use the configured £26.49 total.

The rate from the final tier continues for larger permitted quantities. Pricing applies to each cart line; it does not add together separate purchases or separate lines for individually selected ticket numbers. A displayed average price per entry is a useful guide, while the calculated line total is the amount to check.

Spot awkward price boundaries before customers do

A lower rate at a new tier can make that tier cheaper in total than the quantity just below it. The admin preview makes these boundaries visible, alongside warnings for tiers without a saving or where an active sale offers better value.

Suppose ten entries cost £26.49 and twenty cost £49.99. Nineteen entries would cost £50.33 at the ten-entry rate, so twenty cost 34p less. You can review that deliberately instead of discovering it through a customer question.

An optional better-value suggestion lets an eligible Lucky Dip customer choose a cheaper higher tier when stock and entry limits allow it. The customer must choose the change. raffleWP does not increase the quantity automatically, and this suggestion is not used for manually selected ticket numbers.

Keep the price consistent through the purchase

The same pricing logic serves the basket, classic and block checkout, and the cost planner. Fixed totals follow WooCommerce’s tax-entry basis. A cheaper ordinary sale total can take precedence, and eligible coupons apply afterwards. Percentage bundle discounts are not stacked on top of fixed totals.

New order items retain a private pricing snapshot. The actual WooCommerce order line remains the record of what was paid after tax and coupons. Changing today’s competition price does not rewrite a previous order, and refunds use paid amounts.

Try fixed totals on a prepared competition

  • Back up your site and database, and check the update on staging where available.
  • Open Product data → Raffle, enable quantity bundles and choose Fixed bundle totals.
  • Enter valid quantities and positive totals, then use Preview bundle prices.
  • Review the quantities immediately below and above each tier, sale pricing, coupons and the final basket.
  • Update the planner’s expected order mix to reflect the offers you intend to use.

Percentage mode remains the default. Switching modes preserves the values entered for each mode, so you can review the alternative without retyping your previous settings. Version 1.5.1 also refreshes “Giveaway” wording to “Competition” across the product.
